Mayor John S. Insalaco

Mayor's Welcome:

On behalf of myself, the City Council of the City of Apache Junction, and our outstanding city staff it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our fair city's "community landing page."

We are very pleased to work with this worthwhile initiative to share news and events about our community that might otherwise be overlooked. We hope this may inspire you to expand your business here. In the meantime, our economic development professionals are happy to work with you in providing additional information or coordinating a visit to our community.

While in Apache Junction, we encourage you to visit our city facilities including; our Library, award¬winning Multi-Generational Recreation Center, LEED-certified City Hall Complex, and the awe-inspiring views and excellent athletic facilities at Prospector Park. These amenities are available to you just as they are to our year 'round residents. We also hope you will help us support these wonderful community assets by Shopping Apache Junction. The sales tax you contribute during your stay, coupled with that paid by permanent residents throughout the year, truly helps us pay the bills and keeps these facilities available to you!

Apache Junction Facts

Business Week magazine named Apache Junction #4 on their "America's Best Affordable Places to Retire" list in July 10, 2009.

We are the easternmost community in the Greater Phoenix area, bordered on the east by the Tonto National Forest (the Nation’s fifth largest) and state-owned land.

Unlike many other cities, Apache Junction has NO city property tax.

We encompass approximately 36.5 square miles and are the gateway to the legendary Superstition Mountains and wonderful outdoor recreational areas with hiking, water sports and camping.

A variety of life styles are available in Apache Junction, including western rural acreage, urban single-family residential neighborhoods, adult only retirement clusters and mixed age-group living areas.

We are easily accessible to U.S. 60, the Superstition Freeway, and located at the junction of U.S. Highways 60 and 89 and state Highway 88.

From 1990 to 2004 the City experienced a 54% increase in population

The Apache Junction primary market area, extending from Mesa on the west to past Gold Canyon to the east, consists of approximately 150 square miles. This market area has a year-round population of over 140,000 residents.

Minutes away from one of the "10 Most Underrated Golf Courses" in America, according to Sports Illustrated's golf editor, Gary Van Sickle in 2007
